A template is the way a website is displayed or your webpage is displayed. The template controls the function and structure of the contents, sidebar, and menu. If you make a pages, mostly of the themes have page template options in the page attributes tab and each theme (Premium or Free) has different template options. Basic theme templates setup includes default template, right sidebar, left sidebar, left and right sidebar, full width, blog template, contact page template, and so on. And some theme have no template options at all.

The sidebar in wordpress is the side options or side functions of the site’s contents. They usually appear in left and right side of the pages. You can put almost anything in your sidebar like Facebook like box, twitter feed, call to action, menus, ads, social icons, and so on.
